Alex attended the 2018 NSF Chemistry Early Career Investigator Workshop that was held March 26–27, 2018 in Alexandria, VA and brought together 100 junior faculty. It was really great to catch up with the old friends and meet new!
Sean Aronow, a second year graduate student in our group, talks about his experience and lifestyle at UC Davis.
Alex has recently served as a Cluster 8 instructor for The California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS). COSMOS is a 4-week educational summer program for high achieving 8th-12th grade high school students. This intense academic program is intended to inspire and encourage young people to pursue future study in a STEM related field. More details and pictures from COSMOS 2017 are here. The other two instructors in the Cluster 8 were Profs. Mark Mascal and Jesús Velázquez. It was really fun and we are eagerly waiting for COSMOS 2018!
Alex gave a talk at the 3rd International Fall School on Organic Electronics, IFSOE-2016 in Russia. It was also really great to catch up with Prof. Valentine Ananikov, who gave an excellent tutorial lecture on precision synthesis of complex organic molecules.
We are unpacking and setting up our labs!
Our lab is now open at the UC Davis Chemistry Department. We are currently looking for graduate students to join our lab. Contact Alex if you are interested.
